70 attend the first event of 2018 season led by the Hampshire Astronomical Society
Although the torrential rain, thunder and lightning prevented any outdoor star gazing, the weather did not dampen the spirits. Graham Bryant of the Hampshire Astronomical Society gave an a highly informative illustrated talk to the packed church and, after a welcome break for hot chocolate and sausage rolls, there was some indoor star gazing to be enjoyed after a member of the group set up a telescope linked in to the computer and projected on to the big screen.
Despite the bad weather, it was tremendous to welcome a wide cross-section of ages, including many young children.
It is very much hoped that a similar event will be on the programme for next year.
